Tonj, 11th May 2018. Lack of food and water hit hard Kilo-seven Payam of Tonj County in Tonj State, reveals a teacher in the area.
Joseph Munyjee Bandisk tells Don Bosco Radio that citizens are facing difficult lives due to few and far water points and food.
He says the few water sources in the area are not enough, forcing some residents to walk long distances to fetch water.
Pupils are the most affected group since they have no boreholes in the school and cannot endure the situation, Munyjee points out.
He explains that there is no food and other scholastic materials forcing them to leave pupils to go home early.
Joseph calls on the Tonj State government and NGOs to quickly rescue residents of Kilo-seven Payam by providing water points and food.
He says some local water points like wells and dams dried up due to lack of rain.
Don Bosco Radio could not reach the Ministry of Water and Rural Development for comment.
The speaker made the remarks on Thursday in Tonj.
