Juba, 30th January 2018. The third National Unity Day sports competitions under the theme: “Sports for peace and social cohesion” which started on Saturday are continuing in Juba.
The matches expected to end on February 4 is co-organized by the national Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and Japan International Cooperation Agency or JICA.
Governor of Jubek State, Augustino Jadallah Wani hopes the games will be played all over states to allow youth to participate and give a joyful image to them.
United Nations Mission in South Sudan Chief, David Shearer advises young people that peace requires team spirit and ignoring ethnicity.
Ambassador Deputy of Japan Shigeru Hamano says skills can be shared to promote peace and unity among the youth.
The last event of National Unity Day inspired Japan to sponsor this third one in the country, he adds.
The Ministry expects about 400 youth from all regions in South Sudan to participate.
The speakers made their remarks on Saturday at Juba Stadium.
The games are taking places at various playgrounds of Juba.
