Yambio, 4th January 2018. Sustainable in South Sudan depends on how citizens will work for it with pure hearts, says a priest in the Catholic Diocese of Tombura-Yambio.
Radio Anisa quoted Fr Louis Nvuekama Tamoata saying if evil things and bad intentions against each other are abolished, peace will prevail at all levels.
He challenges those who speak very well at day time or in the public, but plan killings of others at night.
Fr Nvuekama appeals to South Sudanese to pray to God for durable peace in South Sudan this year.
Christians should ask Virgin Mary, Mother of God to intercede to God for lasting peace in the country, he stresses.
The priest reveals that people are celebrating the New Year because God is merciful to everyone including those who committed all sorts of evil things.
He advises all citizens to work hard in 2018 to have food, peace and all needs they want.
Thousands of congregation on Monday assembled at St Mary Catholic Parish in Yambio to thank God for his protection to the New Year.
