Wau, 18th May 2018. The commander of 5th division of the SPLA in Wau state urges government to urgently disarm the civilian for peace and stability in the state.
Speaking during the 35th commemoration of the SPLA Day in Wau on Wednesday, Major General Stephen Boi says the possession of guns in the hands of civilian is destabilizing peace in the area.
He says the mandate of the SPLA is to protect civilians and their property that is why; there is no need for civilians to own guns. He added that any soldier or civilians found moving with guns will be arrested and punish according to the law.
Commander Boi explains that the SPLA Day should renew the patriotic spirit in ever South Sudanese.
Wau state governor Angelo Taban Biajo says disarmament is important step because present of scattered guns in the town destabilize security which causes instability.
Earlier this year governor Angelo Taban direct all the organize forces not to move with guns in public places in the town.
