Addis, 20th July 2018. SIGNIS President encourages AMECEA Bishops to use digital media for evangelization the region.
Helen Osman affirmed that members of SIGNIS work daily to bring the best technical applications and communication methodologies to the Church in AMECEA region.
The SIGNIS President promises to support AMECEA in different communication media.
“In general, we welcome exploring with you how we can assist you in using modern communications in all its forms: radio, television, print, cinema and digital to evangelize and promote a world with vibrant diversity, equal dignity and peaceful unity,” she pledges.
The president spoke to AMECEA in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia during their 19th, Plenary Assembly.
Prefect of the Dicastery for the Communication of Vatican, Fr Paul Samasumo stresses the need for digital media to be part of a primary platform for spreading the Gospel.
He says Pope Francis clarifies in his message of May, 2017that attention and care be accorded to countries with little access to new digital technologies.
The Prefects says the Vatican will support African countries which have not so far embraced the use of digital media.
Fr. Samasumo hopes that in future there can be more collaboration in making of the World Day of Social Communications - a day that celebrates Pope's message.
