Juba, 25th August 2017. Resolve key and confusing issues swiftly and facilitate deployment of Regional Protection Forces without hindrance, the Chief of Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission or JMEC urges the government and UN Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS.
Festus Mogae regrets that the confusion and key issues affect the work of Ceasefire and Transitional Security Arrangements Monitoring Mechanism or CTSAMM.
He calls on IGAD to meet the Chiefs of Defense of troops contributing countries, national government and UNMISS to iron out problems affecting the deployment of the Regional Forces.
JMEC demands sustainable conditions for delivery of humanitarian assistance to the conflict-affected people, Mogae stresses.
He urges the government to conclude constitutional amendment process and initiate its making process.
JMEC chairman expects the plenary to receive briefing from the government on progress of the implementation of the peace agreement.
He also waits for update from the government and UNMISS on the humanitarian situation and specifically on steps taken to facilitate an unrestricted access to IDPs.
The official was speaking during JMEC 19th plenary meeting in Juba on Thursday.
