Tambura, 23rd June 2018. Relief and Rehabilitation Commission in Tombura calls for immediate humanitarian support to the internal displaced persons or IDPs who are dire need in the state.
Morris Bangire confirms that 31,000 IDPs from Nagero County were registered in Tombura County after insecurity in Nagero County last month, Anisa Radio reports.
He says the IDPs are in need of shelter, food, and medicines among others.
Bangire reveals that many of the IDPs are women and children who seriously need humanitarian aid at the moment.
Ferdinand Zingo Lusio, one of the IDPs from Nagero appreciates citizens in Tombura for their generosity for accommodating and supporting them with food.
Dominic Alfred Badungu, another IDP urges the government to support them with basic needs and provide adequate security for them.
Arketa Felisio a member of the devotional group in the Catholic Parish in Nagero regrets the situation they faced after been forced to desert their homes and run to the bush.
She adds that they and experienced a very miserable situation while managing to reach to Tombura.
The lady reveals that many children are missing and many elderly people have died and they managed only to reach in Tombura with few children and elderly persons.
On May 17, there was heavy fighting between government forces and armed opposition in Nagero which resulted in to lose of lives and their property with houses burned into ashes.
Among those abducted during the fight are: Balia Digido Nagero County Commissioner whose whereabouts remained unknown for the past one month.
Anikumbo Mathew Emme, Tombura State Information Minister, accuses the SPLA-IO forces under the command of James Nando of attacking the area.
Anisa Radio at the could not reach to get any comment from the opposition on the allegation.
