Torit, 22nd February 2018. The parish priest of Holy Rosary in the Catholic Diocese of Torit is appealing to those residing in the church land to evacuate so the Church could begin carrying out developmental activities.
Fr Noel Ogoagu says the Church has been negotiating for the last three years with people occupying the land and that has delayed the Church activities. Emmanuel Radio reports
He says the Catholic Church is working hard to provide services that will supplement the effort of the government.
Fr Ogoagu reveals that the parish has marked three activities to implement this year which includes building of a boarding school, health centre and vocational institute. But the Church cannot do these, he adds, if its land is still occupied.
Fr Ogoagu further describes occupation of church land as unfair practice saying, activities to be carried in the area will benefit the general public.
The Parish priest says, the court is already handling the matter of church land to ensure there is no pulling of ropes with difficult occupants.
