Juba, 23rd May 2017. The President of Uganda urges his South Sudanese counterpart not to waste the votes of people during elections in 2010 and referendum in 2011.
Yoweri Kaguta Museveni says the over ninety percent votes to Salva Kiir Mayardit were from all South Sudanese not one tribe.
Addressing the launch of the national dialogue, Kaguta calls on his counterpart to revive the SPLM party to serve everybody.
President Kiir will be blamed by history if he wastes the efforts of the South Sudanese in elections, President Kaguta points out.
The Ugandan president tells his South Sudanese counterpart to organize SPLM and always speak frankly to members.
President Kaguta advises Kiir to avoid the use of force in the party and the country.
The Co-chair of the National Dialogue Steering Committee Angelo Beda Bangboru calls on the army to comply with the ceasefire for the success of the national dialogue.
He explains that the credibility and the genuineness of the process depends on ceasefire and openness of all South Sudanese including the armed opposition.
The freedom of speech and safety for everybody must be guaranteed, Beda adds.
President Salva Kiir accepted the participation of all opposition forces except Dr Riek Machar.
