Vatican, 6th September 2018. Pope Francis encourages Christians to make a daily examination of conscience to help identify temptations, and clarify how these opposing forces work."
He adds a person’s heart is like a battlefield where two different spirits confront one another, the Spirit of God, leads us to good works, of charity, and fraternity meanwhile the other, pushes us to vanity, pride, sufficiency, gossiping that is eternal struggle between good and evil.
The Pope explains that a man left to his own strength does not understand the things of the Spirit.
The Pontiff suggested that in life as Christian, we must fight in order to make room for the Spirit of God, and drive away the spirit of the world.
Pope says we have great gift, which is the Spirit of God, but we are weak, sinners, and still have the temptation of the spirit of the world. Adding that in this war of the spirit, we need to be victors like Jesus.
The Pope made these remarks at the mass at Casa Santa Marta on Tuesday.
