Kenya, 25th September 2018. Pope Francis has transferred the Apostolic Nuncio to Kenya and South Sudan to Czeck Republic.
According to AMECEA Online News, the appointment of Archbishop Charles Daniel Balvo was officially made on Friday in Rome and announced in Kenya the same day at 1.00 PM.
General-Secretary of Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops Fr Daniel Rono acknowledged receipt of the news from the Nuncio in Nairobi.
He said the Church in Kenya accepts the decision of the Holy Father and appreciates Archbishop Balvo for the services he rendered in Kenya and South Sudan during his tenure.
Fr Rono wished the Nuncio the best in his next assignment and promised Kenya and South Sudan will continue to pray for the Nuncio for God to grant him strength.
The two countries will pray to the Nuncio for God to give him knowledge, wisdom and good health for continuous service in the Lord’s vineyard.
Archbishop Balvo was appointed Nuncio to Kenya on January 17, 2013 and South Sudan on December 21 of the same year.
The Holy Father did not yet appoint his Representative to Kenya and South Sudan.
