Yei, 26th May 2018. The new internal displaced persons or IDPs from Soka Payam of Mukaya County who arrived to Yei River County on Sunday are in dire humanitarian situation.
The IDPS say they flee their area due to clashes between SPLA-IO and group of the former Governor of Western Equatoria State, Joseph Bakosoro, Easter Radio reports.
Leader of the IDP, Likambo John, says they fled their area as a result of torture inflicted on civilians of the area by soldiers after the clashes.
The leader says the IO group has taken about 25 youth and the chief of the area who was thoroughly bitten.
He adds that hundreds of IDPs are scattered in the bush.
The IDPs are currently been settled at Jazeera camp of Yei River County in dire need of drinking water, food and medicines.
The displaced persons call on humanitarian aid agencies to come for their aid.
Mukaya County Commissioner, Beneya Jojon condemns the attack on civilians and urges armed opposition groups to respect lives of citizens.
He calls on CTSAMM to carry out investigation into the matter.
The IDPs call on warring parties to expedite peace to end the ongoing suffering of the people of South Sudan.
Easter Radio could not reach the clashing groups for comment on the story.
