Juba, 14th August 2017. South Sudan Great Run held in April raised over eleven million South Sudanese pounds.
The run was held in April to raise funds to fight famine after the government and UN declared food crisis in some parts of the country earlier this year.
Ayesheshim Teka, Chairperson of the organizing committee, says they also got dollars 3,921 US Dollars.
He says the total amount of money pledged by the public was 14 million SSP and 205 thousand dollars.
Teka adds that between April and August, the committee has been working hard to encourage individuals and institutions that have made pledges to fulfill their commitments.
The spokesperson of the organizing committee, Ambassador John Andruga says the committee took long to announce the funds because of the difficulty in following up with the pledges.
