Yambio, 30th November 2017. “God chose you to lead his people of this great nation”, Chairperson of Interfaith-based Council for Peace Initiative tells Governor during their peace forum in Yambio, Gbudue State.
Catholic Bishop of Tombura-Yambio Barani Eduardo Hiiboro Kussala says the future of South Sudan depends on political leaders’ struggle for peace, Radio Anisa reports.
He describes the Governors’ forum ongoing in Yambio as a gift from God and that it should focus on the future, not the past.
Bishop Hiiboro adds that the main reason for conducting the conference is to attain peace as South Sudanese have lost a lot during the war.
This is the time to work for peace in order to realize sustainable tranquility in the country, says Badagbu Daniel Rimbasa, Governor of Gbudue State.
He calls on South Sudanese to move from the culture of war to that of peace to see changes and development.
Governor Badagbu urges different states’ leaders to embrace dialogue in their communities and involve grassroots in the peace building process.
Engage civil society and church leaders when searching for peace, he adds.
The speakers made the remarks during the opening of governors’ peace forum on Tuesday in Yambio.
