DDR Commission confirms the release of 128 former child soldiers in Yambio.

Yambio, 8th August 2018. The National Disarmament Demobilization Reintegration Commission or NDDRC and partners today confirm the release of one hundred and twenty eight children who formerly associated with armed oppositions in Gbudue State.
Mr. Peter Garang Ngor a representative of DDR Commission at National level while speaking at the ceremony today in Yambio says 596 were demobilized between Febraury and April this year in Yambio and two weeks ago 332 were released and in the third phase today 128 have been released.
In 2018 alone NDDR Commission has managed to demobilize 1,056 children who associated with SSNLM and IO armed forces in Gbudue State. 
Major General Chaplain Khamis Edward a representative of SPLA Head Quarters during occasion says it is the concern of the Ministry of Defence and SPLA Head Quarters to make sure that all child soldiers have to be released.
General Khamis accepts that recruiting children into military is a crime in which he informs the former opposition that recruiting children into military is great violation of a child right.
The SPLA General in a press Conference today denies that SPLA and other armed oppositions in South Sudan have been recruiting children into military ranks in order to fight their enemies.
In her Part, Grace Datiro Acting Governor of Gbudue State appreciates the NDDRC, UNICEF, UNMISS and the Churches in Gbudue State for working hand in Hand with the Government for peace in Gbudue State.
NDDR Commission in Partnership with UNICEF and other UN Agencies have taken lead in working hard to make sure no children below the age of 18 should remained either engaged in military activities in South Sudan.
