Torit, 15th May 2018. Civil society organizations are expected to use community radio stations in the country for peace advocacy.
According to Emmanuel Radio this consensus came on Friday when Community Media Network South Sudan or COMNETSS met civil society organizations in Torit to reach masses on the current events in the country.
James Joseph Lemor, COMNETSS Coordinator, says the civil societies should know their role of being public watchdogs.
He assures the organizations that COMNETSS will provide 30 minutes airtime for civil society in Torit to disseminate information through CRN’s Emmanuel Radio.
Ebul Simon Ohuro, a member of state civil society organizations, admits that some agencies in Torit know their roles, but fear to express themselves because of what he describes as “unknown”.
Civil society organizations will now be able to use the opportunity given to them to express themselves through community radio, he adds.
Simon worries ignorance of civil society organization will only make the population remains in darkness.
