Addis Ababa, 23rd May 2018. The primate of the Episcopal Church of South Sudan has urged the South Sudan’s warring parties to uphold the cease fire agreement so as to save more lives in the country.
Archbishop Justin Badi Arama expresses appreciation over little progress made by the warring parties and their commitment to cease fire. He says IGAD will take over the mediation process on Tuesday and help the parties in distribution of the percentage of power sharing in governance.
The chairperson of the People’s Democratic Movement, Hakim Dario Moi says IGAD should not make a mistake of distribution of power only between the SPLM factions.
He suggests that the process should create a chance for South Sudanese to make decision of choosing their own leaders.
SPLM-IO representative in the talks, Angelina Teny reiterates the commitment of the SPLM-IO in ensuring that the war ends by implementing the cessation of hostilities agreement.
She admits that they made what she terms as “very little progress” where the IGAD will then assist the delegates in the rest of discussion.
The representatives spoke on Monday after leadership committee meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
