Yambio, 23rd May 2017. Change Agency Association in partnership with Safer World in Yambio on Monday formed an inter-ethnic peace awareness committee.
Zachariah Moses Timangi, Chairperson of the committee says the awareness aims at disseminating peace, Radio Anisa reports.
The purpose is also to resolve disputes among different tribes in Gbudue State, he adds.
Moses says the committee comprises of five major tribes among others in the area.
The committee is formed as part of the implementation of the issues raised in the peace dialogue conducted in the state last month among different tribes, he explains.
Moses says the members are mandated to resolve issues of cattle grazing in the state.
John Monday, a representative of Dinka community in Yambio and secretary of the inter-ethnic peace awareness committee, urges everyone to preach peace.
Fellow youth in the bushes and at home should distance themselves from any criminal activity and work for lasting peace in South Sudan, he appeals.
Udie Daniel, Director for Change Agency Association describes the formation of the committee as a symbol of togetherness and peace.
He urges everybody to respond positively to the peace messages that the committee will preach.
Last month, people from different backgrounds convened at Cultural Centre in Yambio to discuss some of the things affecting the relationship of communities.
