Torit, 9th July 2018. Baari and Omorwo communities in Torit County agreed to end hostilities and passed four resolutions during their peace and reconciliation conference early last month.
According to Radio Emmanuel, the four resolutions include ending the inter-communal conflict, compensation of all the people who died during the conflict and establishment of Truth-telling committee.
The communities also resolved to form a land committee to demarcate the farms.
Jimmy Kilang is the Country Director for Solidarity Association for Rehabilitation and Recovery Affairs or SARRA.
While handing over the resolutions to the state government, he calls for implementation of the resolutions to end hostilities in the area.
Chairperson of Torit State Peace Commissioner, German Charles Ojok received the resolutions.
He advises the two communities to collaborate with the government to implement the resolutions smoothly.
The Chairperson believes the agreement is a step forward to lasting peace.

Baari and Omorwo communities of Bur Payam disputed over land for cultivation in April 2013, followed by revenge attacks that claimed more than 40 lives including women and children.
