Juba, 8th January 2018. A Civil Society activist is calling upon all worrying parties in South Sudan to stop the ongoing conflict in the country and commit themselves to complying with the provisions in the cessation of hostilities agreement signed in December last year in Adiss Ababa.
Edmon Yakani, the Executive Director for Community Empowerment for Progress Organization or CEPO, says the violation of the agreement in some parts of the country is due to the lack of proper communication to the ground troops from both the government and the opposition force commanders. Anisa Radio reports.
Yakani however calls on South Sudanese citizens to disseminate peace message at their different capacities and stand behind lasting peace in the country
He mentions that war will only lead to destruction of human life and properties.
He says the violation of the agreement is reported in some parts of Equatoria and former Unity State by both the government and oppositions troops which is not a good beginning.
